For the first time in our firm’s history, we are seeing great demand from venture-backed technology companies for adding experienced senior leaders to their boards. Investors and Founders agree that real talent can help young companies thrive, and there has never been a better time than now to get that talent,
Some recent examples:
- Company A is building a systems company with a special focus on software and cloud systems. We helped recruit an SVP/GM from Amazon Web Services to the board, working closely with senior management and investors on company strategy and approach.
- Company B involves an EV company with special focus on manufacturing delivery vans for multinational conglomerates. We are helping them with senior executives out of Ford and Apple as potential board members.
- Company C was looking for an outsider to head the Audit Committee before commissioning an Initial Public Offering. We placed a Board member who had taken two other companies public as CFO.
One of the best features of these positions is active executives can accept a board seat while continuing in their current roles. And Venture-backed companies can pay nothing in cash for these folks. Most of these Board Directors agree to join the board for under 0.5% of company stock in options, vesting over four years.
