On May 19, 2022, Mark Lonergan moderated a very special panel for the Silicon Valley Directors Exchange — the first live event for this board organization in two years. On the panel were distinguished board directors and thought leaders Jack Lazar, Michelle Lee, and Paul Saffo to propose, discuss, and debate what future oriented issues board directors ought to be thinking about today.
Some of the topics discussed included:
- The role of Silicon Valley in future innovation
- Changing public sentiment towards tech and tech leaders
- Government regulation and global government interests regarding the tech sector
- Geopolitics, especially the future of China
- Immigration and American education
- The role of founder CEOs and the balancing of investor and founder interests
- The need for values to guide the evolution of tech, and the need for board directors to play a role in that guidance
